Fremont Police Captain Freddie H. Bobbitt Jr, Dead At 54
The police department announced Bobbitt's "unexpected" death on social media.

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Police Department has announced the death of Capt. Frederick “Freddie” H. Bobbitt Jr. He was 54-years-old when he died on Monday.
"We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Captain Frederick “Freddie” H. Bobbitt Jr," the social media announcement read. "We are all in shock and disbelief. We send our sincerest condolences to the Bobbitt family and ask that our community keep his family and friends in their thoughts."
Tributes have poured in from other agencies, elected officials and the public as the post was widely shared.

Santa Rosa Police Chief Chief Rainer Navarro said, "Freddie was a great man and true friend. What a loss. I got to know him at Command College. He was a man of integrity and showed great kindness to everyone. Rest In Peace Freddie. Praying for your family."
KathyKimberlin shared, "So very sad. He certainly loved what he did serving our community! And his passion for the Building Bridges program with 6th grade students was apparent. RIP Captain Bobbitt."

Alameda County Supervisor Dave Haubert said, "Prayers for Captain Bobbitt’s family, and Fremont PD. All in our prayers."
On its Twitter page, the Fremont Police Department wrote, "We will share more information on how to support the Bobbitt family and FPD as it becomes available in the upcoming days."
