FREMONT, CA — A police bloodhound named Blaze helped officers catch two of three suspects in a series of residential burglaries, Fremont police said Sunday.

Police were called at about 2:30 p.m. Friday to the 4900 block of Norris Road, where witnesses told police they saw an unfamiliar car parked in front of a house there, from which two people emerged; that pair was seen moments later "rummaging through the house," police said.

When police arrived and detained a third person, the 19-year-old driver of the unfamiliar car, the other two suspects fled the back yard.

It was then that Blaze was put to work, and he led police to a gas station at Blacow Road and Central Avenue a few blocks away, where the two 17-year-old suspects were hiding.

The car's driver, Nestor Garcia-Erazo of Sunnyvale, was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and booked at the Fremont City Jail. The two 17-year-olds were issued "notice to appear" citations for residential burglary and released to their parents, police said.
