Fremont Ranked Happiest City In America

FREMONT, CA — Fremont is the happiest city in America, according to a ranking just released by Wallet Hub.

Fremont was compared to more than 180 of the largest cities in the U.S. across 30 key indicators of happiness by WalletHub to come up with 2023’s Happiest Cities in America. Fremont received a total score of 76.10 and was ranked:

• 1st for emotional and physical well-being.
• 1st in depression rate.
• 1st for community and environment.
• 34th for income and employment.

"Some places are just happiness-inducing places, with lots of sunlight, nature, and culture," said Stacey N. Doan, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychological Science at Claremont McKenna College. "However, recent research suggests also that it is not about the place, but the match between the place and who you are as a person! If your values are more in line with the values of the culture of that town, or neighborhood, you are more likely to be happy."

If this study sounds familiar, Fremont also topped the list last year.

For 2023, California nabbed three of the top 5 slots:
