Fremont School Awarded $5,000 Education Grant

FREMONT, CA — A Fremont school is one of dozens in the Bay Area that have been awarded a combined $100,000 in grants that will fund programs ranging from musical instruments to Korean language classes to Chromebook laptops that will be used inside classrooms.

Walters Middle School in Fremont will use its $5,000 grant to buy athletic equipment for both P.E. classes and other extracurricular activities.

The grants, presented on Dec. 12 to students and teachers, were given out as part of the Wells Fargo KNBR Step Up to the Plate program, which has granted more than $1.3 million over the last 18 years.

Brandon Crawford, shortstop for the San Francisco Giants, helped present the combined $100,000 in grants to 32 Bay Area schools.
