Fremont Shooting Suspect Arrested After Police Chase
Both the shooting suspect and the driver are Union City residents.
FREMONT, CA —Fremont Police arrested two men in connection with a shooting investigation, after a police chase. Police also recovered a gun they believe was used in a shooting last Wednesday on Locke Court near Paseo Padre Parkway.
The arrests happened last Thursday, but were announced by police on Monday.
Police arrested 21-year-old Reliezon Maham on suspicion of attempted homicide, and carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony. Police also booked 20-year-old Vimal Swamy of Union City on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm and evading a police officer. He has been released from jail.

According to a police narrative, plainclothes police identified the shooting suspect, Maham, who was seen in the passenger seat of a blue Jeep. Detectives tried to stop the Jeep which immediately fled with Fremont police in pursuit.
"Due to the nature of the crime, Detectives effected the PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver just a short time after the pursuit was initiated," police report. "The vehicle was successfully brought to a stop in the area of the SB I880 off-ramp and Jackson St in Hayward."
