The interstate was shut down for some time as police searched for 3 robbery suspects who escaped on foot, police say.

FREMONT, CA - Interstate 880 in Fremont was backed up for miles Thursday afternoon, the result of police activity that started in Millbrae, crosssed the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, left an alleged getaway car on the freeway and ended with a foot pursuit, Fremont police spokeswoman Officer Geneva Bosques told Bay City News.
Both sides of the freeway were closed, southbound for much longer. By the time the southbound lanes reopened, traffic was backed up to Davis in San Leandro.
