ABOUT JUSTIN SHA FOR FREMONT MAYOR
Find out what's happening in Fremontfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
In the Fremont mayoral race, there is one clean-money candidate, and that is Justin Sha.
Justin Sha is the people’s candidate and the candidate in this race who has rejected money from developers, corporations, and special money interests. Justin Sha cannot be bought, and he is committed to balancing resident needs with our future.
“I pledge to prioritize the quality of life issues that Fremont residents care most about,” provided Justin Sha. “With me, residents know what they are getting. I am not a career politician who breaks his promises or a career politician who will say or do anything for purposes of setting up his next run for political office. I am just a member of our community who grew up here in Fremont—who is disappointed and frustrated by the direction that we all see Fremont heading. I am proud of my campaign, which has been entirely fact-driven and based on the official record, and I know that we are on the right side of history. Fremont residents are smart. I don’t think they’ll be fooled, and I trust that voters will make the right decision this November 3rd.”

Fremont residents agree! We need a Mayor who has the political courage required to take on the status quo: fight irresponsible overdevelopment, increase public safety, protect all our communities here in Fremont, tackle crises such as COVID-19 and climate change, and make Fremont a more inclusive and transparent city. We need to make the right decision and elect Justin Sha to be our next Fremont Mayor. Our future depends on it.
JUSTIN SHA FOR FREMONT MAYOR LEADS ON THE ISSUES
LEADERSHIP WE CAN TRUST—Justin Sha is running for Mayor to bring about a new generation of leadership in Fremont: one that listens, has open dialogue with the community, and works proactively to solve problems we all face. As mentioned, Sha has not taken a dime from developers or corporations. We can trust that Justin Sha will make his decisions based on what is best for Fremont residents, NOT WHAT IS BEST FOR POLITICAL DONORS. Fremont has big challenges to face, including overdevelopment, traffic, increased crime rates, and more. We need a Mayor with concrete plans to solve these issues, and we need a Mayor BEHOLDEN TO THE PEOPLE, NOT SPECIAL INTERESTS.
SMART GROWTH/IRRESPONSIBLE OVERDEVELOPMENT—While each city is mandated to develop housing, it is incumbent upon our leadership to decide whether we develop in a smart way, or whether we allow developers to have their way. Justin Sha looks to implement smart growth strategies such as mixed-use and transit-oriented development to increase not only the supply of affordable and middle-level housing that can allow Fremont residents to live in the City they call home, but also the supply of retail space for small businesses. Most importantly, Justin Sha has pledged to always prioritize quality of life considerations before making any decision; this includes considering how new developments will impact traffic, schools, and our infrastructure.
PUBLIC SAFETY FOR ALL RESIDENTS—We need a Mayor who will make Fremont a safer city, someone who will reduce the rising incidents of theft, burglaries, and break-ins that we have seen these past few years. Commercial burglaries and car break-ins have particularly spiked during the past year. Many immigrant communities feel like they are victims of racially targeted crimes, and we need to do more to address this. To start, we need to make sure public health professionals respond to homelessness calls and public health calls. This will help de-escalate situations, and it will allow FPD to focus more time and resources to combat the aforementioned increases in crime. Justin Sha has spoken to countless residents about their frustrations, and he will make sure that our police department is equipped to prioritize and address the crimes that most directly impact our everyday quality of life.
DATA-DRIVEN COVID-19 RECOVERY—Justin Sha wants to leverage his management and technology background to create a means for permanent data-information flow for residents, including a Fremont portal app, with COVID-19 functionalities and all city resources at your fingertips. The app would show important city information, make COVID-19 rates searchable by ZIP code, show open businesses, create an ability to remotely book a COVID-19 test, allow for contact tracing, provide guidance for residents that is accessible and intuitive, and enable push notifications for emergency alerts.
HOMELESSNESS, THE ENVIRONMENT & ECONOMY—Justin Sha will leverage his business and management experience to make sure Fremont is making fiscally responsible choices and to make sure that Fremont gets its fair share of County resources. Currently, Fremont is not receiving its fair share of the County’s homelessness fund, and Justin Sha will work with regional leadership to make sure that Fremont receives its fair share. Justin Sha is also a proponent of revitalizing our local economy through a green-technology powered economic recovery program. Specifically, Sha believes we need to be swift and proactive in working against the effects of climate change. As we have seen with the recent wildfires, our climate crisis is already here, and it is having real impacts on our communities. Sha will also mandate new requirements for developers to incorporate more green technology. Further, Sha will generate synergies and look into innovative ideas that leverage emerging technologies (IoT) to improve the day-to-day experiences of existing residents.
Overall, Justin Sha is running for Mayor to create a Fremont that works for ALL residents. He will empower the People’s voice when it comes to the issues most important to Fremont residents, such as irresponsible overdevelopment, housing affordability, public safety, traffic congestion, our COVID-19 response, fiscal responsibility, and government transparency. We need transparency and community involvement in making data-driven decisions, and new leadership is required to move our city forward.

We, the silent majority and members of the community, strongly urge you to vote for Justin Sha for Fremont Mayor this November 3rd.
