Low Impact Aerobics is characterized as easy-to-follow aerobic dance steps, done in a “call and response” manner, where participants keep one foot on the floor at all times, with cardiovascular health and muscular endurance, particularly in the legs and thighs, are the main goals. This class will promote physical fitness and increase your heart-rate while limiting the wear and tear on your joints. Low-impact aerobics will energize you and help burn calories. Join us and make some new friends while you get in shape to “the rockin’-est” heart pumping and toe tapping 50’s and ‘60’s Rockabilly and Rhythm and Blues, and ‘70’s and ‘80’s Funk and Soul dance numbers. Senior Strength-Chair Fitness And Flexibility 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Gentle isometric, light free weight, and yogic exercises, done from a seated position on a chair to help improve strength and flexibility, reduce chronic pain and stress, and help with everyday activities. Bootcamp 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Get ready to sweat, shed pounds, burn calories, and get in shape. Bootcamp is an intense cross-training program that incorporates fitness oriented martial arts, aerobics, with strength and muscle building exercises. Explosive drills (plyometrics) are also included to help build lean muscle, increase stamina, and get you fit. The instructor will demonstrate modifications, so beginners can workout at a safe, yet fun pace and enhance their fitness level. Bring an exercise mat, a towel, and a water bottle.
Jitterbug Swing All Levels 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Smooth Style Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Collegiate Shag, the flashy and fancy styles of retro style "jitterbug" swing dancing as seen in the movies. Have FUN while learning to dance to 40's Big Band and 50's Rock n' Roll music! Basics are reviewed and drilled for the first half hour, to improve technique while making those fundamentals “second nature”, so participants can “pull off” these moves naturally, without having to “think about it.” New moves are taught during the second half and the emphasis for the class is on dancing fun, yet safely, in a crowded, social dance setting.
