Las Positas Recap: A Look At Soccer, Water polo, Volleyball
White leads Las Positas women's water polo into conference tourney

The first-place Las Positas College women's water polo team is roaring into the Coast Conference Championships on Nov. 2 fresh off an 18-8 win over Cabrillo on Oct. 24. Nikki White led the way with five goals and one assist and Mikayla Theidi had four goals and a team-high three steals.
Three Las Positas players had two goals apiece: Negin Tehranian-Torghabeh, Sydney Magan and Allie Cain. White and Kiana Schober had two steals apiece. White also had two saves in goal.

The Las Positas men’s soccer team, which has won three of its past four games, split contests last week with a 4-0 win over Ohlone on Oct. 23 and a 3-1 loss to Evergreen Valley on Oct. 26.
Alexis Alvarez of Brentwood and Jack Kennedy of Danville both scored twice against Ohlone and central midfielder Leo Barajas was brilliant overall.

“Leo was amazing, best performance this year, and Arnie (Maravillas), (Christopher) Hafizi, (Christopher) Finlez and goalkeeper Kyle Rudd all had excellent performances to preserve the shutout,” said Las Positas coach Andy Cumbo.
Rudd worked the clean sheet with five saves.
Those with assists were Finlez, Ian Slominski, Barajas, Amine Abdelouahid and Hafizi. Slominski leads the Hawks in assists with nine, which puts him tied for 12th in the state.
Oscar Munoz had the lone goal against Evergreen Valley in the 30th minute on an assist from Arnie Maravillas. Munoz leads the Hawks in scoring with 12 goals to with five assists, and ranks tied for 10th in the state in scoring.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
The Hawks (11-2-3, 5-1-2) dropped a hard-fought showdown against Canada-Redwood City (10-6-1, 8-0-1), 2-0, on Oct. 26 in the Coast-North. Ohlone keeper Marisol Camargo worked a shutout in the second half with four saves.
The Hawks have two home games this week against De Anza at 4 p.m. Tuesday and Cabrillo at 3 p.m. Friday.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
During their debut season, the Hawks will travel to face Canada at College of San Mateo on Nov. 2, and then will have Sophomore Night at Hawk Nation at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 7.
MEN’S WATER POLO
The Hawks are preparing for the Coast Conference Championships on Nov. 2-3 at De Anza College.
