The unidentified man slowly awakened and complied with police commands as he was taken into custody.

FREMONT, CA -- A 26-year-old man was arrested last weekend in Fremont after an officer checking the vehicle found the man sleeping with a handgun in his lap, police said. According to police, the officer called for backup around 12:47 a.m. Sunday.
The unidentified man slowly awakened and complied with police commands as he was taken into custody.
Police determined the handgun to be a pellet gun - which resembled a Beretta handgun - that the man told police was used for protection. It also had a laser pointer attached to it.
The man was searched and allegedly had a glass pipe and shaved key in his possession. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing unlawful drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools and a probation violation. His name was not released.
