Man Killed in Fremont Crash Identified

The crash was reported Friday night.

FREMONT, CA - One man died and one suffered a minor injury in a collision Friday night on eastbound state Highway 84 in Fremont, California Highway Patrol officials said today.

The crash that killed a 30-year-old Oakland man was first reported at 9:25 p.m. on Highway 84 just west of Interstate Highway 880, according to the CHP and the Alameda County coroner.

Witnesses told CHP officers that a black 2015 Volkswagen Jetta was speeding east on Highway 84 near I-880 when the driver lost control of the car as it crossed all lanes of traffic Deandre Daley's Volkswagen sideswiped the driver's side of a black 2010 Honda Accord and spun off the road onto the right shoulder and into a sign and a tree.

Daley was pronounced dead at 9:34 p.m. The driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital.

The Honda sustained moderate damage to the driver's side.

A traffic alert was issued at 9:54 p.m. for the eastbound lanes of the highway. All lanes of the highway reopened at 12:28 a.m. today.
