Niles Canyon Body: Man Died 'At The Hands Of Another'

The body was found a few miles east of Fremont city limits.

FREMONT, CA —The discovery of a man's body along railroads tracks in Niles Canyon in unincorporated Alameda County on Sunday afternoon is now being treated as a definite homicide, a sheriff's spokesman said today.

The body of a man who appeared to be in his 20s was discovered near the Union Pacific tracks in the canyon south of state Highway 84 and Alameda Creek at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday, sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly said.

A hiker or jogger saw the body west of the intersection of Highway 84 and Palomares Road a few miles east of Fremont city limits and called authorities, according to Kelly.
