New Fremont Community Center Gets Another $1M In Funding

It will include a multi-sport gymnasium, dance and fitness room, program rooms, a kitchen, and an events room.

FREMONT, CA — An additional $1 million in funding was secured for the development of Fremont's new community center at Central Park, a state lawmaker announced Friday.

Assemblymember Alex Lee said in a news release a total of $9 million has been secured for the planned state-of-the-art facility. Of the $9 million, $8 million was sourced from the 2022-2023 state budget while the remaining funds came from the 2023-2024 state spending plan, he noted.

"The facility will be a hub for Fremont residents, and I look forward to seeing generations of the Fremont community enjoy this center," Lee added.

The multi-use community center, which is set on over 450 acres of land, will include a multi-sport gymnasium, dance and fitness room, program rooms, a kitchen, and an events room, according to Lee's office. It will replace the city's Teen Center and the old community center.

According to Lee's office, the new community center's construction is expected to begin in 2026. City officials aim to open it to the public in 2028.
