Niles Canyon Road Closure Update
Caltrans closed the road to connect the new Alameda Creek Bridge.
FREMONT, CA — The section of Niles Canyon Road between Palomares Road in Fremont and Main Street in Sunol has been reopened to traffic, Caltrans said Monday morning.
This is after crews worked around the clock to connect the roadway, which is part of State Route 84, to the new Alameda Creek Bridge. Caltrans says the new bridge improves roadway alignment and addresses seismic issues.
The roadway was closed Friday night, July 14, and reopened to traffic at 4 a.m. on Monday, July 17.
