FREMONT, CA — Niles Canyon Road in Alameda County reopened Thursday from Mission Boulevard in Fremont to Main Street in Sunol.

The road, otherwise known as state Highway 84, was closed on Monday to accommodate Caltrans crews cleaning up flood debris and repairing guardrails in the area. According to Caltrans, crews worked 12-hour shifts to ensure the roadway could open to the public as soon as possible.

Caltrans cautions motorists to stay alert on the roadway and that hazardous conditions caused by the storm may make it necessary to close the road again.
