Officer Involved in Shooting: 8 Year Veteran
The officer was injured in an altercation with the suspect before the fatal shooting.

FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police disclosed Monday that the officer who shot a suspect to death Sunday is an eight year veteran of the department.
The officer responded to a battery call at 4:15 p.m. near Mowry Avenue and Sutter Drive. According to a written statement from police, "the Officer and male suspect got into a physical altercation, during which time, the Officer discharged his weapon. The Officer who discharged his weapon was the Officer who was injured. He was the only Officer involved. Responding patrol Officers provided medical care until paramedics arrived. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene."
The injured officer was treated and released at a hospital for his injuries.
