Suspects Shoot At Fremont Officers; Police Return Fire
Police closed major roads Tuesday evening as they searched for suspects, which also impacted Newark, Union City.
FREMONT, CA — There was an officer-involved-shooting in Fremont on Tuesday. No one was injured in the shooting, but a suspect was injured by a K9. Four juveniles were arrested.
The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the west end of Stevenson Boulevard. It started much earlier at 4:45 p.m. on Cushing Parkway.
According to Fremont Police, at 4:45 p.m. a patrol officer located a stolen vehicle near Cushing Parkway and Auto Mall Parkway. Police say, "The officer waited for additional units to arrive and attempted an enforcement stop on the vehicle. The vehicle fled northbound on Cushing Pkwy and turned west on Stevenson Blvd."

It didn't end there, according to police, "The suspect vehicle came to a stop at the dead-end of Stevenson Blvd., at which time several suspects fled on foot. Officers began chasing the suspects until one suspect fired several rounds at the pursuing officers. Officers returned fire at the suspect and established a perimeter around the area."
One suspect refused to surrender and was injured by a K9. That suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment.
