
FREMONT, CA — One person was killed and traffic was snarled for hours following a two vehicle crash on northbound I-680 Sunday morning. The location was at the Washington Boulevard on ramp.
The victim's name was released Sunday night. He was 64-year-old San Jose resident Bruce Applegate.
The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. and a sig alert was issued at 6:25, when the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was found lying on the right hand shoulder of the road.

The CHP began reopening lanes one at a time, starting at 7:00, with the entire highway reopened just before 9:30.
