Overturned Vehicle Causes Backup On I-880 In Fremont

The CHP issued a sig-alert because several lanes were blocked.

FREMONT, CA — The CHP has canceled a sig-alert in Fremont, after clearing an overturned vehicle that forced the closure of several lanes. But the damage is already done - expect significant slowing.

The problem was in the northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 880 just south of South Fremont Boulevard.

The CHP said the collision was first reported at 5:29 a.m. and one motorist may be trapped in their vehicle down an embankment.

All lanes reopened around 6:15 and the sig-alert was canceled shortly after.
