Pedestrian Killed in Fremont
The woman was crossing Niles Boulevard when she was hit by a vehicle.

FREMONT, CA — A woman was killed Monday night crossing the street in Fremont, according to police. She was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.
It happened just after 8:00 p.m. According to police, "Through their investigation, traffic officers determined a female pedestrian was crossing westbound on Niles Boulevard outside of the crosswalk near Rock Avenue. A motorist in the #1 lane saw the pedestrian and stopped in the middle of the roadway, unfortunately a vehicle in the #2 lane did not see the pedestrian and struck her."
The victim was transported to a regional trauma center where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
While the collision is still under investigation, at this time, no criminal charges are being sought.
