Pedestrian Knocked Unconscious In Fremont

The crash happened late Sunday night. The victim was taken to the hospital.

FREMONT, CA — A pedestrian was hospitalized after she was hit by a car Sunday night in Fremont, according to police.

Fremont police officers received a call around 10:30 p.m. about a collision on Thornton Avenue near the northbound Interstate Highway 880 entrance.

The caller said that the driver had tried to drive away but was blocked by a witness.

When police arrived, they discovered a female pedestrian in her late teens to early 20s lying unconscious in the intersection of Thornton Avenue and San Pedro Drive. She was brought to a trauma center for treatment of head trauma and other injuries.

The driver, a 68-year-old man residing in Fremont, stopped his car and said he had not been aware that he had struck someone. The police towed his 1997 Toyota Camry for evidence.

They do not suspect the driver was under the influence at the time of the collision.
