Person Walking Dog Critically Injured By Hit-And-Run Driver

Fremont Police are seeking witnesses to Tuesday morning's crash.

FREMONT, CA — A person walking their dog was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Fremont Tuesday morning. The victim is hospitalized in critical condition, according to Fremont Police. The dog was not hurt.

Just after 6 a.m., police received a call of a person down in the 100 block of J St., near Second St.

The first police and firefighters who arrived believed the person had suffered a medical emergency. However, after further investigation, officers believe the person may have been struck by a vehicle.

"Identity is being withheld at this time to allow officers to contact family members," police said in a release. "The individual was with a dog at the time. The dog was not injured and was safely retrieved near the scene."
