Safe: At-Risk Senior No Longer Missing

FREMONT, CA — Some 24 hours after reporting her missing, Fremont Police say Mary Chao has "returned home safely to her family."

Police did not give details about her return, only saying, "Thank you for your assistance in locating her."

Midday Thursday, police reported that the 68-year-old woman had last been seen Thursday morning at 7 a.m. in the Ardenwood area. She is a strong walker, and frequently walks to Newark and Union City.

After 5 p.m. Friday, police reported that she was safe.
