Rockabilly "Jiving", The Preferred Dance Style For Rockin' Tunes for Vintage Lifestyle Fans

Fun N' Easy '50's Style Dance Workshop with a "Swingy" Feel In Union City!

“Jiving,” it’s the style of partnered dancing done in the current rockabilly scene today!

Jiving, it was originally the British version of swing dancing that grew in popularity in the 1950’s in the “Teddy Boy” culture, then revived with the re-emergence of rockabilly and hard core ‘50’s style rock n’ roll in Britain in the late 1960’s which ran simultaneous, if opposite, to the “nostalgia” craze in the United States.

Jiving, you can see it in most pre-Mersey beat British Rock n’ Roll flicks such as “The Tommy Steele Story”, “Serious Charge”, “Expresso Bongo”, “Play It Cool!”, “It’s Trad, Dad”, and of course, you can see it today at just about any weekender.

Jiving, the rockabilly scene’s swing dance style of choice, is easy, yet complex, fun and energetic, yet simple enough to do that no experience is needed, just a willingness to get up on the dance floor to some rockin’ tunes!

This quickie workshop will teach you all you need to know to prepare you for your next Rockabilly Weekender or band show that has a dance floor. In addition, time permitting, we’ll also go over the Kitten Stroll, the line dance that the Rockabilly gals love doin’ (but there’s no reason why you gents shouldn’t learn it, too, since being able to show your gal will definitely earn you points!)
