Sexual Assault Suspect Sought In Fremont

Police said they are "actively" searching for a suspect.

FREMONT, CA — Police in Fremont are searching for an identified suspect in a sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday morning, the department has announced.

At approximately 8:55 a.m., dispatch received a call from community members reporting a distraught woman in the area of Paseo Padre Parkway and Mowry Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a woman who reported being the victim of a sexual assault. She was taken to the hospital and she is expected to survive, police said.

Fremont Police obtained a search warrant for a location believed to be associated with the investigation. A potential suspect has been identified, police said, and they are "actively" searching for them.

One person had been detained as a result of the investigation, but the individual was soon determined to have been a witness, police said.

This investigation is ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available, the FPD said.
