I-680 Closed For Hours In Fremont Wednesday
A multi-vehicle accident included a gravel spill that closed all but the HOV lane.

FREMONT, CA — It was a mess. That's the nicest thing that you can say about a crash that happened before noon on Wednesday on I-680 in Fremont and backed up traffic well into the evening commute.
The California Highway Patrol issued a sig-alert for southbound Interstate Highway 680 north of Mission Boulevard due to the collision involving multiple vehicles, including big rig. The wreck was reported at 11:22 a.m., according to the CHP.
Dirt and gravel was spread over all lanes except the HOV lane, with a truck on its side.

The sig-alert was canceled at 4:37 p.m., according to the CHP log.
