Stop, Children, What’s That Sound?

Doug Torres starts his 50th Year Teaching Guitar at Ohlone College!

Do you remember where you were when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, when the Beatles released Abbey Road or when 400,000 music fans took over a dairy farm southwest of Woodstock? Do you recall Nixon’s inauguration, the mass protests against the Vietnam War and the birth of PBS?

Maybe you missed out on these events because you weren’t even born yet. No worries. Just as the echoes of these world changing events still impact our lives today, Doug Torres still resonates through the classical guitar program that he established at Ohlone College during the summer of ‘69. To mark the occasion, Doug Torres will be revisiting his best selling book from 1969, “A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar” with his beginning students while running through a special series of lessons entitled “A Classical Approach to Modern Guitar” with intermediate and advanced guitarists. All who attend Doug Torres’ classical guitar class this Fall should expect a semester of fun musical lessons featuring unique classical arrangements of songs popular in 1969.

Don’t let this once in a lifetime experience pass you by. Limited space is still available for the Fall Semester classical guitar classes with Doug Torres at Ohlone College. Those interested should register ASAP at https://www.ohlone.edu or call the admission office at 510-659-6000. The weekly classes begin on Thursday, August 29th at 6:30pm.
