Suspects Stealing Mustang Drag Car Owner 10 Feet

A struggled ensued over the driver's side door as the victim tried to stop the suspects.

Police are looking for two suspects who dragged a car owner about 10 feet while stealing a Ford Mustang on Wednesday in Fremont, police said. The two suspects stole the green 2002 Ford Mustang at about 8 a.m. from Wheeler Drive while the vehicle was running and unoccupied in a driveway, according to police.

The victim tried to stop the suspects before they drove away. A struggled ensued over the driver’s side door and the victim was dragged about 10 feet before the suspects got away, according to police. Two officers spotted the vehicle going north on Interstate Highway 880 near Whipple Road and tried to stop the Mustang, but the driver fled, leading police on a chase, police said.

The chase lasted only a short time and the suspects continued on I-880, according to police. Fremont police notified nearby agencies of the carjacking and Hayward police located the Mustang at the Southland Mall, police said. Hayward officers saw a male suspect and a female suspect leave the car but could not locate them, according to police.
