Teen Accused Of Assault With A Deadly Weapon

An innocent victim was hospitalized following a police chase in Fremont. The suspect rammed a police vehicle and parked cars before it began

FREMONT, CA — A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Fremont Sunday morning on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, felony reckless evading, felony evading causing serious bodily injury, and addition charges may be sought for felony grand theft following the completion of a police investigation. In addition, he is being held on two outside agency felony warrants for robbery and misdemeanor obstructing/resisting.

A Fremont Police officer spotted a car wanted in connection with a felony grand theft case that happened recently in Fremont. The officer did a felony traffic stop on the car at 1:50 a.m. in the Kaiser Emergency Room parking lot. Police say the officer held the driver at gun point while additional officers responded.

According to a release from the police department, "The suspect then began to intentionally ram the officer’s patrol vehicle and other parked cars, to escape. The suspect maneuvered his way out and fled at a high rate of speed. Having just committed an assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, a pursuit ensued. The suspect, driving an Infiniti sedan, traveled westbound on Mowry and passed through several intersections failing to yield for officers, failing to obey the speed limit and failing to stop at red-light traffic signals. As the suspect approached Mowry Avenue and Farwell Drive, the suspect collided with a vehicle being driven by a woman. The impact of the collision caused the victim vehicle to flip over. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance away in a hotel parking lot by officers. Fremont Fire used a Jaws of Life tool to safely extricate the victim driver of the second car."
