Fierce Winds Rip Through Fremont Knocking Out Power, Closing Street
The wind brought down a power pole and lines, with high winds expected through tomorrow

FREMONT, CA — More than 3,000 homes and businesses were without power in Fremont for time after fierce winds brought down a power pole and lines at about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.
The Fremont Police Department is advising people to avoid Walnut Avenue between Overacker Avenue and Gallaudet Drive until the mess can be cleaned up.
According to PG&E's outage map, 3,100 customers were without power as a result of the downed power lines. The company expected to have power restored by 4:30 p.m., although most power was back on by 3:15.
There are smaller outages scattered around the city.

Major outages have been reported in other parts of the East Bay and beyond including in Pleasanton, San Lorenzo, and Foster City. The Peninsula is especially hard hit.
The Bay Area is under a wind advisory through Wednesday as a winter storm is expected to bring near-freezing temperatures along with rain, snow, and hail in some locations.
