VA Seminar at Carlton Plaza of Fremont to teach how to apply for benefits
Heritage Financial North is working together with the team at Carlton Plaza of Fremont to help vets apply for and receive needed benefits.

Applying for Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits can be a lengthy, complicated process that is very confusing. Before filling in and filing the eight-page application form, information needs to be compiled from a number of different sources, including discharge papers, marriage certificates, death certificates for surviving spouses, proof of income, insurance information, physician statements, banking information and employment history.
To help veterans receive the benefits they need, Lisa Clarke, regional director at Heritage Financial North – a business offering asset preservation and retirement services – will present a special educational seminar at Carlton Plaza of Fremont on Thursday, January 29, at 5:30 p.m. to teach veterans and their spouses about their benefits and long-term care options.
“The non-service connected pension with aid and attendance benefits allows veterans to get more than $2,000 per month to cover their care,” said Clarke, who will address how veterans can qualify and stay qualified for the benefits. The seminar is intended to demystify the complicated processes involved in applying for and receiving the benefits some veterans need to receive care that best fits their situation.

“We really want to see these veterans get the care they need,” said Stephanie Brice, executive director of Carlton Plaza of Fremont. “It’s important for them to know there are options that allow them to receive long-term care benefits and it’s our goal to inform them about these benefits.”

Carlton Plaza of Fremont offers several options that allow residents to choose the degree of care that best suits their lifestyle and comfortably transition into greater levels of care if they become needed.
“Being able to transition to the programs that provide more assistance with daily activities is a great benefit to residents who have become comfortable in their new home and don’t want to move,” said Brice.
