A Very Special Thanksgiving: Photos Of the Day
Bethesda Lutheran Communities hosted a holiday feast for family, friends and staff at the Tri-Cities' group home.
FREMONT, CA – The Bethesda Lutheran Communities hosted a Thanksgiving feast for family, friends and staff at its group home on Mowry Avenue in Fremont on Nov. 18.
More than 50 people enjoyed a traditional feast featuring turkey, with all the trimmings, stuffing, potatoes, classic side dishes and, of course, dessert.
"Individuals with disabilities are the world’s single largest minority population," according to Bethesda care workers. "Roughly one in 10 people live with a disability. And while we often think there’s 'strength in numbers,' those with disabilities often voice feeling isolated, under-served and alone. This is especially the case during the holidays. At Bethesda, we’re working to provide positive interaction and services to ensure the people we support with intellectual and developmental disabilities live the lives they want."
