WATCH: Fremont Police Release Video Of Officer-Involved Shooting
The shooting, which took place April 1, resulted in the death of Steven Moseley, who was shot nine times.
FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police released video footage of the department's third officer-involved shooting, which resulted in the death of a 36-year-old Fremont man.
Steven Moseley died after being shot nine times on April 1 in the parking lot of the Hyatt Place Hotel. Officer Grant Goepp, a six-year veteran of the department, fired at Moseley, as did Detective Josh Harvey, who has been with the department for 11 years, police Chief Kimberly Petersen said.
The video, which appears to be edited from several different video feeds, shows Moseley on the ground being attacked by a dog, waving a semi-automatic pistol around and appearing to point it at officers. Officers can be heard ordering Moseley to put the weapon down before shooting him. Moseley ignored their orders and pointed the weapon at officers multiple times, Fremont Petersen said on the video, which was released on Friday. Moseley died at the scene.

Police believed that Moseley detected officers sitting in an unmarked car, the chief said. Moseley ran through the parking lot. Police released a dog to pursue Moseley. It attacked the man and bit his arm, causing him to fall to the ground.
Goepp saw that Moseley had a gun in his right hand. Two detectives yelled, “Gun!” to alert other officers that Moseley was armed, Petersen said. Officers yelled several times at Moseley to lower his gun, Petersen said. Goepp and Harvey then both fired at Moseley.
In the video, Moseley can be heard saying, “Kill me, kill me, kill me motherf---,” as he fought with the police dog. Officers sent commands through an electronic collar for the dog to release Moseley, which the dog ignored.
Moseley was hit and stopped moving, Petersen said. Moseley was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m. The entire incident took 25 seconds, Petersen said.
An autopsy determined that Moseley was hit five times and died of multiple gunshot wounds.
