Youth Volunteer Opportunities in the Tri-Cities

Want to stay active and help others this summer? Check out some of these great opportunities in the community.

Summer vacation for teens usually means a whole lot of time playing catch up with your estranged Xbox or PlayStation. But wouldn’t you rather spend those countless hours on Call of Duty helping out in your community?

Sparked by a reader who asked about volunteer opportunities for her child, we decided to ask our Facebook users what was out there. Here’s what they shared with us:

Tri-City Volunteers: Located in Fremont, the Tri-City Volunteers is among the largest organizations in Alameda County that distributes food directly to those in need. They also operate a thrift store. According to the Tri-City Volunteer website, during vacations high school age students can drop in on a first-come, first-serve basis to assist with food distribution and other organization needs.

Washington Hospital: Hospitals are abundant with year-round volunteer opportunities. Washington Hospital has several options for high school students 16 and older in good academic standing, such as snapping new baby photos and working in the gift shop. See how you can get involved here.
