Longer days and warmer weather mean it’s a great time to get outside and see what’s happening around Fresno. Throughout the season, local markets, festivals and community events offer plenty of opportunities to explore, connect and enjoy the best of spring.

1. Happy Hour Run

Midway through the week is a good time to let off some steam and what better than with a fun run. If you think running isn’t fun, then maybe a pint afterward will make it more palatable. You don’t need to run, you can walk, jog or skip along the 1 - 3 mile route. Sponsored by the Fresno Social Run Club, this weekly run ends at The Woodward Restaurant.
2. Vineyard Farmers Market
When: Wednesdays, 3 - 6 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. - noon
Where: 100 W. Shaw
Come for the fresh fruits and veggies and stay for the market’s architecture. The 6,000 square foot building was designed with Redwood arched trusses and concrete columns by Christoper Alexander, a professor emeritus in architecture at the University of California Berkeley. Here shoppers will find locally grown produce, along with artisans selling tasty items including breads, coffee, pastries and chocolate.

3. Fresno Art Museum Free Sundays
When: First and third Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: Fresno Art Museum, 2233 N. First St.
Enjoy a free day at the museum and explore all the exhibits. Whether you are looking for an family-friendly activity or are planning a day out with friends, this is a great opportunity to sample all that the art museum has to offer, including its Museum Shop.

4. Tequila Fest Fresno
When: May 2
Where: Chukchansi Park, 1800 Tulare St.
This is the Central Valley’s largest tequila celebration. Sample a wide variety of tequila and enjoy live music from Nelly and Twista. And the party happens right downtown.

5. Clovis Botanical Garden
When: Wednesday - Sunday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: 945 N. Clovis Ave., Clovis
Just a short drive north of Fresno, you’ll find the Clovis Botanical Garden. Take a stroll in the 4-acre garden and peruse all of the different plants and trees. There’s a variety of themes throughout, including Mediterranean, sensory and a children’s garden. The garden is always free for visitors.

6. Friday Night Wine Down
When: Friday’s, 6 - 9 p.m.
Where: Ramos Torres Winery, 1665 Simpson St., Kingsburg
The week is over and it’s time to relax and chill. What better way to do that than to enjoy a night out at a nearby winery. Ramos Torres Winery offers a tasting room where you can sample a variety of wines or find a shady spot outdoors and savor a glass.
