Fresno County Sheriff's Office: Kingsburg Murder Victim Identified

Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit have identified 23 year old Shawn Vigo of Kingsburg as the victim in a homicide investigation.

Shortly before 9:00 pm on Monday, Kingsburg Police officers were dispatched to a shots fired call on the 1700 block of 18th Avenue in Kingsburg. Once officers arrived they found a man, later identified as Shawn Vigo, lying in the roadway. Officers and EMS personnel discovered Vigo had been shot. Despite life-saving efforts, Vigo died at the scene.
Kingsburg Police requested the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office take over the investigation. Our homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit arrived to begin collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Thus far, detectives have not determined a motive, but are confident this was not a random act and Vigo was targeted.

Detectives continue to piece together events leading up to his death to try and identify a suspect or suspects. They are requesting to speak with anyone who may have been in the area and seen something suspicious. Additionally, we are asking the public to contact us if they have surveillance cameras positioned along 18th Ave. between Sierra and Plumas Street or surrounding areas.
This marks the first homicide of 2021 in the city of Kingsburg.
