Fresno High School IB students have installed an art and writing exhibit on the front fence of the campus that highlights stories of change, including students’ pandemic experiences. “The Power of the Butterfly Metaphor” and “Migration through Legacy” are interdisciplinary projects led by English language arts teachers Marino Santos and Meghan Schimmel. Video production teacher Mahon Brown led a team of students in documenting the project and construction teacher Joel Osuna assisted in curating the art in Warrior Park. Students involved said the project improved their mental well-being during the pandemic.

Public exhibition of the 2-by-2-foot panels will run through the end of the May.

“What a pleasure to be able to see student art in person, especially a project that allowed students to express their COVID-19 experiences and feel more in control of their circumstances,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
