SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A $20,000 reward is being offered by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office for information leading to the capture of two inmates who escaped Wednesday from the main jail in San Jose.
Sheriff Laurie Smith on Friday announced the reward for "the successful capture" of the escapees, 33-year-old Rogelio Chavez of San Jose and Laron Campbell, 26 of Palo Alto.
Chavez, Campbell and two other inmates escaped shortly before 11:08 p.m. by using bed sheets and clothes to lower themselves from a second-floor cell window, sheriff's officials said. The foursome cut through the bars on the window, though investigators did not find any cutting tools in the cell or in the surrounding area in their investigation.
