Brush Fire Burns 7-8 Acres Near Eagle Ridge Golf Course In Gilroy

No reports of structures burned or injuries.

A two-alarm grass fire that has burned about 7 to 8 acres near the Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Gilroy this afternoon is 50 percent contained, a Gilroy fire division chief said.

Around 12:20 p.m., firefighters received a call from a golf course employee who said there was a fire burning about an acre of grass behind the ninth hole and moving up a hill, Gilroy fire division Chief Mary Gutierrez said.

The golf course is located at 2951 Club Drive. Cal Fire crews are assisting Gilroy firefighters in extinguishing the fire, which was 50 percent contained as of 1:50 p.m., Gutierrez said.

Fire crews are using air tankers and helicopters that are dropping water to put out the blaze, according to Gutierrez.

No structures are threatened by the fire and no injuries have been reported, she said. There have been no evacuation or shelter-in-place orders, Gutierrez said.
