Crews Fire Near Gilroy 80% Contained, Evacuations Lifted
Firefighters hope to have the blaze 100% contained by Sunday.
GILROY, CA — Cal Fire said in a statement Thursday morning that the Crews Fire in the rural mountains east of Gilroy was 80 percent contained and that evacuation orders had been lifted.
Cal Fire announced the update on Twitter.

Firefighters took advantage of favorable conditions during the day on Wednesday and overnight into Thursday morning to build additional control lines and hope to have the fire 100 percent contained by Sunday, Cal Fire said.
All road closures have been lifted.

The fire's cause remained under investigation Wednesday.
There were no additional updates as of Thursday afternoon.
