Driver Crashes Off Hwy 101 In Morgan Hill, Suffers Major Injuries: CHP

BREAKING: The vehicle struck part of the Tennant Avenue overcrossing, California Highway Patrol reported.

MORGAN HILL, CA — A 51-year-old driver suffered major injuries Thursday morning after his car crashed into an over crossing along U.S. Highway 101 in Morgan Hill, according to the California Highway Patrol. At 9:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crash along the highway's northbound lanes near Tennant Avenue.

There, officers found that a single vehicle crash involving a 2010 Chevrolet had occurred. Investigators determined that as the Chevy was traveling north on the highway when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle left the roadway and traveled across the right shoulder and struck a portion of the Tennant Avenue over crossing, CHP officials said.

After the crash, the vehicle came to rest in a dirt area near the right hand shoulder.

Medical personnel at the scene found the victim, a Gonzales resident, unresponsive and not breathing. After being resuscitated, the victim was taken to Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center with major injuries.

It was not immediately known whether alcohol and drugs played a factor in the crash and the investigation remain ongoing.
