FBI Continues Ongoing Probe Of Gilroy Festival Shooting: Report

GILROY, CA — The FBI is continuing its investigation into the Gilroy Garlic Festival mass shooting that occurred nearly a year ago, The Gilroy Dispatch reports.

FBI Special Agent, John Bennett, who serves as Chief of the San Francisco Division, confirmed earlier this month that the circumstances surrounding the July 28, 2019 massacre were ongoing, the report said.

Santino William Legan killed three people and 17 injured before being killed in a shootout with police at the festival shooting.

Investigators are trying to determine who, if anyone, the 19-year-old was in contact with leading up to shooting, the report said.

Bennett said during a news conference in August of last year that investigators discovered organizations that were potential targets of Legan, including religious institutions and federal buildings, the report said.
