Former Gilroy Mayor Sig Sanchez Dies At 100: Report
An outdoor memorial service will be held in Gilroy on a date to be determined, the report said.
GILROY, CA — Former Gilroy Mayor Sig Sanchez, who last fall turned 100, has died, The Gilroy Dispatch reports.
Sanchez died in his sleep Sunday night according to the report.

Sanchez launched a 55-year career in public service in Gilroy in the mid 1950s, when he served two terms on the city council and then another two years as mayor, the report said.
Sanchez went on to serve four terms on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

He served on Santa Clara Valley Water District (now Valley Water) board of directors from 1980 to 2009 according to the report.
