San Jose Jaguars Overpower Gavilan Rams In Conference Opener

Jaguars dominate on offense, defeating the rams 41-0.

Several mistakes on special teams and offense contributed to Gavilan College's 41-0 loss to San Jose City College Saturday night in San Jose.

The Coast Conference defending champions jumped out to a quick 26-0 lead in the first quarter after Gavilan fumbled two consecutive kickoffs, with San Jose quickly converting the turnovers into touchdowns.

San Jose was up 34-0 by halftime.

The Jaguars’ offense was lead by freshman quarterback Jaymason Lee, who passed for 234 yards and five touchdowns.

San Jose rushing was lead by freshmen running backs Devin Kawewehi with 52 yards, and Isiah Harris with 50 yards and a touchdown. Freshman wide receiver Kelechi Nwabidia had 48 yards receiving with two touchdown catches.

The Jaguars’ defense overpowered the Rams by allowing only 142 total yards of Gavilan offense, including three fumble recoveries and one interception.

San Jose’s defense held strong by shutting down the Rams on the one-yard line for four consecutive downs at the end of regulation.

Gavilan’s offense was led by freshmen quarterback Omar Kharroob, with 87 yards passing and running back Jakari Johnson, with 55 yards rushing.

Saturday night’s loss puts the Rams at 0-6 overall for the season and 0-1 in Coast Conference play while San Jose is 1-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Gavilan will look to get its first win of the season when they play West Valley College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Morgan Hill.
