GILROY, CA β€” A complicated Gilroy street improvement project has finally been completed, The Gilroy Dispatch reports.

City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the corner of First Street and Teresa Boulevard Friday to commemorate the achievement, the report said.

Upgrades to the corridor included new curb ramps, flashing beacon crosswalks and the city’s first green bike lanes according to the report.

β€œThis is a very exciting moment,” Mayor Roland Velasco said at Friday’s ceremony according to the report.

β€œYou guys have been very, very patient through this whole thing. I know it’s been tough. You’ve had to endure the construction and the delays, but you made it work, and we certainly appreciate that.”
