Gilroy Man Crashes Truck Into A Home In Alleged DUI: CHP

Breaking: Authorities say the injured man was airlifted to a hospital, where he was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving drunk.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A 61-year-old Gilroy man suffered major injuries when he crashed his pickup truck into an empty home in Rucker on Sunday afternoon while allegedly driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Carlos Lujan was driving south on Columbet Avenue in a blue 1993 Toyota when he did not stop at the stop sign at Masten Avenue.

Lujan continued through the intersection, lost control and crashed into a wooden fence before coming to rest inside the unoccupied home.

Emergency personnel extricated Lujan from his truck before he was flown to San Jose Regional Hospital, where he was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Lujan remained at the hospital on Monday and was paper-booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
