Gilroy Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Arroyo Circle

Police are investigating a solo car crash in Gilroy that took the driver’s life Wednesday evening.

The incident was reported at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday in the 7900 block of Arroyo Circle. First responders found a single vehicle that had struck a light pole and tree, according to police.

The driver suffered major trauma and was trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency personnel tried to stabilize him for extrication from the vehicle, but the driver died of his injuries and was pronounced at the scene, according to police.

The incident is still under investigation. Investigators hope to determine the cause of the crash, and whether drugs or alcohol may have been a factor.
