Gilroy Police Plan DUI, License Checkpoint This Week
A checkpoint for DUI and license violations will be set up at an undisclosed location in Gilroy this week, police said.
GILROY, CA — Police will set up a DUI/driver's license checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the city on Friday, the Gilroy Police Department said in a statement.
Police will look for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, and will check drivers for proper licensing. Specially trained officers may also be present to evaluate drivers suspected of impairment.
The location for the checkpoint will be based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, police said.

"Drivers caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000 not to mention the embarrassment when friends and family find out," Gilroy police said in the release.
