Gilroy Rallies In Support of Family-Owned Doughnut Shop: Report
A GoFundMe campaign that launched to help the Hok family with expenses had raised over $95,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.

GILROY, CA — When tragedy struck the family that owns a popular Gilroy doughnut shop, an extended community of loyal customers rallied to their support.
Sreng and Soktea Hok, who’ve owned Gilroy Donut House for 30 years, are grieving the loss of their 29-year-old daughter, Kimlang Phoeu, who died Thursday after suffering a brain aneurysm in late April, The San Jose Mercury News reports.
One of Phoeu’s kidneys was transplanted into her father Sreng, the report said, and her other kidney and liver went to two other patients.

“She can save three people’s lives,” Soktea Hok told the newspaper of her daughter. “I’m happy.”
The Gilroy community has come to the aid of the Hok family, who immigrated to the United States from Cambodia in 1985, the report said.

Longtime customer Stephanie Upton-Gonzalez launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with expenses that as of Tuesday afternoon had raised over $95,000 .
“These funds will go to help with their rent, medical bills, or whatever else they need to be able to grieve and not worry so much during this difficult time,” Upton-Gonzalez wrote on the GoFundMe page.
