Gilroy Roadway Shuttered Due To Crews Fire: Police
The Crews Fire was 20% contained as of late Monday morning.

GILROY, CA — A Gilroy roadway has been temporary closed due to the Crews Fire, police said early Monday afternoon in a news release.
The area of Christmas Hill Park and Miller Avenue, between Uvas Parkway and W Luchessa Avenue will be closed until further notice, police said.
Christmas Hill Park is being used as a staging area for firefighting equipment and personnel as they battle the blaze.

The Crews Fire has churned through an estimated 2,000 acres was 20% controlled in a rural area north of Gilroy, Cal Fire announced late Monday morning in a news conference.
The Crews Fire, which was reported at around 2:40 p.m., originated at Crews Road near Oak Spring Circle and spread east towards the Canada Road area, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze destroyed two buildings and has triggered evacuations that remain in effect, Cal Fire said.
The evacuations included homes along Kenyatta Road, where some farm animals had to be moved fast-charging blaze approached the area, KTVU reports.
There is no current estimate on when the park and roadway will reopen.
